Color Block Quilt work.
Some dye experiments yield beautiful colors. Some are less than perfect. I collected a few left over pieces and made this quilted piece. Similar to stain glass, dyed silk is translucent and colors can look different depending on the light. Different color dyes can be mixed to create endless variation in colors. Some of the colors on this panel are made by mixing and controlling dye bath time.
Quilting is a good way for me to see how one color would look next to another. When I mix the dyes create a new color, I am somehow more in tune with the color. In composing a good color combination, choices come easily when I have that insight.
What kind of dye did you use for this quilt?
ReplyDeleteI used Jaquard Procion MX dye for these.
